Debra Holt

Debra Holt is an independent social worker with more than 25 years’ experience of working with children and families. Prior to becoming self-employed Debra worked in local authority children and families teams for 14 years as a social worker and line manager where through her practice and additional training she developed her skills in assessing complex family dimensions; working in partnership with family members, and professionals to achieve this.

In 2002 Debra became self-employed; initially chairing LAC reviews, child protection conferences and family group conferences. During her lengthy social work career Debra has also worked as Children’s Guardian completing private and public law assessments; and as an expert witness for the Courts, completing numerous parenting and risk assessments.

Debra has a special interest in relationship-based practice and psychodynamic and systemic thinking, which she uses within her own work as a social work practitioner. Debra is an active member of GAPS (Group for the Advancement of Psychodynamics and Psychotherapy in Social Work), and has assisted and presented workshops on topics relating to relationship based practice.
