Duty to notify
Under subsection (1), the person/organisation carrying on a care home or independent hospital comes under the duty to notify where the home or hospital accommodates a child and either of the following conditions is met:
(a) it is intended to accommodate the child for a consecutive period of three months; or
(b) the child has been accommodated for a consecutive period of three months (where the home or hospital started off with the intention of accommodating for less than three months but that period is exceeded).
Originally, the notification was simply to be given to the authority in whose area the home or hospital was situated.
