This section sets out the cases in which the appointment of a guardian under section 5 can be avoided. In broad terms, this can occur in three ways: (a) prior to the appointment taking effect, it can be revoked by act of the person who made the appointment; (b) once the appointment has taken effect, it can be disclaimed by the person appointed; and (c) whether or not the appointment has taken effect, it can be brought to an end by court order.
