A v B (a child) (jurisdiction)
Case date: 01 November 2011
The instant proceedings concerned a child, M.
The father and mother were not married to each other and the father did not have parental responsibility for M; the relationship broke down in 2007, prior to M's birth.
In November 2007, the mother went to Sweden where M was born.
In December 2010, an order was made by the Stockholm District Court, which recorded an agreement between the mother and father as to future contact by the father with M.
Contact did not take place pursuant to the agreement and, in June 2011, the father made an application in the Swedish court seeking, amongst other things, interim joint custody.
That application was subsequently dismissed and the court decided that the father should have no contact with M.
In September, the mother came into the jurisdiction of England and Wales.
