How do I change my password?
Go to 'My Preferences' and enter your current password, new password and then confirm the new password. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click submit.
What happens if I forget my password?
Enter your username as normal and then click on 'Password Reminder'. An email will be sent to you reminding you of your password. Alternatively you can call the CC Inform helpdesk on 0845 308 8888 to speak to Kim Poupart who will be happy to give it to you.
How do I search for information?
Login in to the site and then click on 'Search'. You can search the site for information in two ways - you can browse by reference manuals or you can search by keyword.
What's the difference between searching by browse menu and searching by keyword(s)?
When you search using the reference manual browse menu you are directly searching the list of reference manuals. If you click on the title of a reference manual the document will open and the other content tabs (case law, legislation, practice, research, book reviews) will display search results for content on the same subject as the reference manual.
If you search by keyword(s) every content tab (where there is relevant content) will display a list of search results inlcuding the reference manual tab. If there is only one relevant reference manual the document will automatically display.
How do I change my default content tab?
Go to 'My Preferences' scroll down to the box called 'My Preferences' where you will find 'Preferred Tab'. Select the content type you would like to default to from the drop down menu. Please note that the default tab will only work when you are performing a keyword search. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 'Submit'.
What is 'remember me'?
If you click the 'remember me' box when you login to the site your username and password will be remembered when you visit the site again during that day. It will only remember you if you do not 'logout' of the site so if you want it to remember you just close your web browser without logging out. Word of caution - if you share a computer with colleagues do not click the 'remember me' box because your colleagues will automatically be logged in as you.
Can I save documents from external web sites into My Documents?
No, but you can set up folders in your internet browser and save them there - click here for a step by step guide to how to do this.
If I leave my current job can I take CC Inform with me?
If your new employer subscribes to CC Inform and will grant you access to the site then yes. If your new employer does not subscribe to CC Inform then you will no longer be able to access it unless you have a personal subscription.
